Hello My Name Is...
Therese Ballou
Hello, my name is Terry Livingston Ballou, and I recently joined the Career Tech Center here at Kennett High School to teach Criminal Justice. I graduated from Kennett in 1986, and received my B.A in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. After college, I joined "Teach For America", a program that recruited teachers to teach in underprivileged areas. I taught in Brooklyn, NY for four years, before going to law school. While at law school, I interned for a state Supreme Court Justice; worked at a center for victims of domestic violence; and interned for the Staten Island District Attorney's Office. Upon graduating, I joined the Manhattan District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor, and handled cases from petit larceny to attempted murder. I worked as a prosecutor from 1998-2004, when I decided to become a full-time mom to my three sons.
My family moved back to the Mt. Washington Valley in 2014, after my husband retired as a detective from the NYPD. My twins graduated from Kennett in 2018, and my youngest son will graduate in the spring of 2022. I am very excited to be back in the classroom, and teaching students all about our criminal justice system.
In my free time, I love spending time with my family traveling all over the world. I am an avid runner, and I still compete in track meets and road races. I am also a volunteer coach with the Kennett Track team.
